Our Mission
The mission of SAM is to provide an opportunity for the members to
increase management skills and expertise through participation in
programs and services designed to improve the professional quality of
their knowledge, performance, and leadership ability.
Our History
The Society for Advancement of Management
has been serving the needs of the “scientific” manager for over 90
years, longer than any other professional management organization. On
November 11, 1910, colleagues of Frederick W. Taylor met and formed a
society to discuss and promote his principles of “scientific
management.” During the next two years, members of this pioneer group
formed the first Professional Management Society. This group became
known as the Society for Advancement of Management (SAM). Through the
years, SAM has helped more than a million managers to become more
effective in both their professional and personal lives. |
