VISION

To contribute to world peace through economic exchange
|
 |
To globalize the business school through exchange and
cooperation with East Asian Countries (Korea, China,
Taiwan, Japan, India, and Thailand |
 |
To create business leaders with a global vision
|
BACKGROUND
 |
Due to recent expansions in economic connections between
the United States and Easter Asian countries, both
economic and human exchange has increased as well. There
is an increasing amount investment by Asian corporations
such as the Korean Hyundai Corporation in Alabama
where the university is located.
|
 |
With countries such as Japan (world’s 2nd),
China (world’s 5th), Korea (world’s 11th),
and India (world’s 13th), Eastern Asia is
where the most dynamic economic development is taking
place, possibly to become the world’s biggest economic
region within a decade. |
 |
Along with the development of these Asian countries,
more and more Asian companies are viewing the United
States with Alabama as a strong candidate for lucrative
business opportunities. |
 |
Alabama State provides many advantages such as direct
contact with the market, economically accessibility to
land, relatively low labor costs, and incentives
provided by the local government for potential Asian
investors such as Korean, Chinese, Indian companies. |
 |
Despite the potential and development of East Asian
countries, the regional distance from the East Asia
limits any deeper studies on the area despite an
increase in interest. |
 |
Especially as Korea is aiming to conclude the Free Trade
Agreement with the United States as of 2007, the
economic exchange between the two countries are expected
to expand greatly, equally increasing the demand of
experts in this field. |
 |
Experts in this field will be in greater demand as East
Asian countries have a relative limitation in terms of
English language skills. Therefore, expertise on the
East Asian region will open a “Blue Ocean” opportunities
in terms of jobs and self development for the students
in
College of Business
Administration of Alabama State University. |
